STARS IN THE SKY’ Mobile

· Materials-

1. Star patterns

2. Sand

3. String

· For each child-

One blue plastic clothes hanger

· Standard supplies

1. Photocopier

2. Yellow construction paper or card stock

3. Glitter crayons

4. Glue

5. Transparent tape

6. Scissors

7. Measuring stick

8. Shallow containers

9. Large shallow box

· Preparation : Photocopy star patterns onto card stock or construction paper-two copies for each child. Cut our stars.(Older children may cut out their own stars.)

For each child-cut string into three18-inch(45-cm)lengths and two 30-inch(75-cm)lengths

and tie onto the bottom bar of clothes hanger. Tim ends, if needed. pour sand into shallow containers.

· Instruct each child in the following procedures:

1. Color some stars with glitter crayons.

2. On other stars, dot with glue and then sprinkle with sand, shake off excess sand into the shallow box.

3. With teacher’s help, tape the backs of stars to the strings (see sketch).Tape one, two or three stars to each string.

· Bible Bits: How many stars do you think there are in the sky?

· (children respond)

· There are so many we cannot even count them!

· God promised Abraham he would have as many children , grandchildren and great grandchildren as there are stars in the sky! God kept His promises .Your stars in the sky mobile will remind you that God keeps His promises!
